Address Rules

No road or driveway can be named either with a road sign or by adding it to online mapping without first getting approval from the Township and registering the name with 911 emergency services. Any attempt to name a road without the proper procedures is a crime and may result in delayed response by emergency services. Violators will be prosecuted.

Using an address for any property for any reason that has not been officially assigned by the Wayne County planning department is a violation of law, and can delay emergency services response and arrival. Use of an address that is not assigned by the County could result in criminal prosecution.

You may contact the Wayne County Planning Department at 570.253.5970 ext 4060 or contact the Zoning Officer for assistance obtaining an address.
