NAME YOUR DRIVEWAY!
If you have a driveway over 200 feet in length, you may name it officially so that the 9-1-1 system can direct emergency services to your home more efficiently. When you register the road name with the Township, the location and name will be forwarded to the Wayne County Communications Center.
To register the road name, please contact the Zoning Officer at the Municipal Building at 570-224-4410 during normal business hours or e-mail your request to the Zoning Officer at .
You may want to try looking at the Wayne County 9-1-1 Administration road name checker to see if your preferred road name is available.
The purchase and installation of the new road signs are the responsibility of the property / driveway / private road owners. If you have any questions, please contact the Township Office.

SPEED LIMIT 25 MPH
After reviewing a study to determine a safe speed to travel MacCubbins Road, the Supervisors decided to post the road with 25 MPH speed limit signs. This follows a project completed to regrade and resurface the roadway. Apparently some residents are concerned that the new smooth road surface will be considered an invitation to some to drive faster on the road.

WEST NILE VIRUS IN WAYNE COUNTY
There have been some cases of human infection with the West Nile Virus in Wayne County. There have been none reported in Damascus Township. There is no cause for alarm, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. It is recommended that people should eliminate standing water, and avoid being the outdoors at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active. If you can't avoid the outdoors, use insect repellent containing DEET to minimize the chance of being bitten.
If a mosquito stings you, the chances are very slight that you will contract the virus, but if you experience flu-like symptoms, you are advised to contact your doctor.
